Sathorn is a relatively new area in Bangkok that hosts some of the greatest hotels in the city. Besides trendy Sathorn hotels, there are also a lot of upmarket serviced apartments and many fine restaurants providing local and international delicacies. This area has experienced a significant growth over the last few years with a huge development in its transportation systems, including the Bangkok Skytrain that connects important places in this area and other areas outside. Another thing that contributes to its rapid growth is its strategic location that’s close to other areas with strong economy, like Sukhumvit Road, the riverside, Siam and Silom.


Attractions in Sathorn

Christ Church – A beautiful Anglican Church located on Convent Road that has an interesting history. It was built by the blessing of King Rama V as a spiritual shelter for Christians in surrounding areas. The church itself has a simple gothic-colonial style with white interior and stained glass windows.

Lumpini Park – This is the best place to relax and get fresh in the bustling city of Bangkok. It occupies more than half a million square kilometers of land and water. This beautiful park also becomes a home for various species of flora and fauna. The name itself is taken from the place where the Lord Buddha was born.

M.R. Kukrit’s Home – M.R. Kukrit was the prime minister of Thailand who served from 1974 – 1975. He was also an intellectual leader who often became a central figure in the national politics of the country during times of uncertainties. Today this beautiful traditional-style house has become a national heritage that hosts various fine-art items.

YenakArt Villa – This trendy looking building displays a huge collection of painting and sculpture. You should checkout its schedule if you want to visit this place, because most of the times it only accepts guests by appointment only, but during an open house everyone is welcomed.

Q House Lumpini Life Center Mall – This shopping center is relatively small but it’s a very trendy place. With its futuristic blue glass design you cannot missit if you pass the intersection of Sathorn and Rama IV Road.

Suan Plu Market – A fresh indoor market that provides anything from vegetables, meats, fish, fruits, to home cleaning products. It also has a section where you can find all kinds of flowers at a bargain price. Make sure you try the noodle dish when you visit this market, it really has a special taste.

Vertigo Rooftop Bar – Located on top of the Banyan Tree Hotel, Vertigo Rooftop Bar offers the best spot for viewing the city while enjoying your favorite dishes. Actually there are many other rooftop bars in Sathorn, but nothing beats the magnificent view you get from this bar on 61st floor.
